Design Portfolio

This is my portfolio of web and graphic design. Some of the web sites are private, and therefore link only to an image, but others are free to view for everyone.

Harvest Christian Fellowship

Web design: template, code, flash, PHP

A church based in Hamilton, Scotland asked me to do a total redesign of their website, so I worked closely with them to produce the result they wanted. With an XHTML/CSS base, there are several flash buttons and navigation menus, and underlying PHP code. The project also involved the production of a podcast and newsfeed.

Assemblies of God Scotland

Assemblies of God Scotland

Web design: code, PHP, MySQL, CMS

The graphics for the site had already been designed but not yet applied to HTML. I wrote the code for the site, using strict XHTML and CSS. It was then integrated into my content management system so that it can be updated by anyone in the future.

Viv Cairns

Web design: template, code

This is a strict XHTML and CSS five page website, deliberately given a very clean, minimalistic design. The theme has been based around musical notation, hence the black and white, with gold to give a splash of colour. The site uses PHP includes and a PHP mail form.

Jordan-Rowell

Web design: template, code, PHP, MySQL, content management

The site is written in strict XHTML and CSS. It is totally PHP and MySQL powered, with all the photographs and text stored in a database. The photograph gallery is an automated PHP script that automatically scans for available photos, and sorts them for viewing. The site supports a "comment" feature, where friends can post comments either on individual photos or on a general wall. The site was the first to have been integrated with my content management system, Jed. This means that all the text is editable by the website owner, photograph uploading is automated (with thumbnail generation and image resizing) and comment management is provided.

Wedding website

Another Wedding

Web design: template, code

This is a basic XHTML and CSS website designed as a sort of splash page for visitors to be directed to wedding photograph galleries. The emphasis here was on the graphic design centered around the wedding colours (blue and cream), using Photoshop to produce flower effects and cutting around an image of the couple. Corel photo painter was used for the 3D drop-shadow on the cut out image.

The Great Synchronisation

A few minutes ago I was sitting on a sofa with nothing to do, thinking, "maybe it's time for my annual blog entry". You may be wondering whether you should bother reading something that's been created simply because I had nothing better to do, but I submit to you that all good things are created that way. Think about it.
